
Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course (Two Day Course - 16 hours)
The next Wilderness course will be held on May 4th and 5th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Red Roof Plus (conference room) located at 1200 Winchester Parkway SE in Smyrna, GA 30080. The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response, such as wilderness and remote environments, including urban disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes. Wilderness First Aid is the assessment of and treatment given to an injured or ill person in a remote environment where definitive care by a health care provider and/or rapid transport is not readily available. Remote environments may also be created during disasters and therefore this course is valuable for anyone preparing to respond to these situations personally or with an organization.
