Shun Mook's experience with ebony material led to the development of a phono cartridge whose body and internal parts were all made from a specially treated black ebony. In order to make the tiny parts, no cost is spared to obtain micro machines to fabricate the Shun Mook parts. Shun Mook works closely with ZYX Corp of Japan, using their ZXY Premium Airy3 3D engine. The new Reference 3 cartridge features new 6N single crystal copper coils, a micro-ridge stylus, and has a lower output of 0.24mV, 4 ohm internal impedance and a recommend load of less than 100 ohms. Sonically it shows more micro detail and improved dynamics.Each unit is painstakingly tuned by actual listening in Shun Mook's preference Hi Fi system. This process usually takes about 20 hours.
