Excerpt from A Summary of Child Welfare Work in PennsylvaniaThis statement reveals the fact that the eastern section has ten times as much money per inhabitants invested in cottage institutions which represent the most modern equipment and methods as the western section while the current expense is less than three times as great. The excess in investments in the eastern institutions is largely due to endowments. The difference in the relative expenditures for current expense is largely due to superior equipment and more efficient administration. In some of the western institutions the entire expenditure for salaries is not more than would be adequate to secure the services of one competent employe.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
