Convergence on Hand Dyed Polwarth wool DK yarn - 300 yd
Convergence is a kettle dyed variegated, somewhat repeatable colorway featuring deep blues, teals, and chocolate and is inspired by the convergence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers into the Ohio River at the point in Pittsburgh. Polwarth sheep were bred in the 1880s as a dual purpose breed that was hardier than Merinos, but retained the fine wool of Merinos. They are a cross of 1/4 Lincoln (a longwool sheep) and 3/4 Merino, which results in a fine wool with a longer staple length, increased luster and durability. Polwarth is well loved in the handspinning community, and it's a joy to bring a Polwarth specific yarn into our selection of hand dyed yarns. Each 100g (3.5 oz) skein of Polwarth DK contains 300 yards of a lovely 3 ply yarn. Knits up at 6 stitches to the inch (it can substitute for many sportweight yarns) with a US 4-6 (3.0 - 4.0 mm). Care: Handwash cold. Lay flat to dry. All efforts are made to accurately depict the colors of the hand dyed yarn. Colors will vary from dyelot to dyelot, so please purchase enough to complete your intended project in a single batch. Alternate skeins for best results. Dyelot 003 Ships in 1-3 business days.
