World War II Rationing Simulation Activity This is a great lesson that students will love and learn so much from! In pairs, students act as heads of a household of four and have to meal plan for a week using ration coupons and a tight budget.  Its stressful and fun for students as they have to decide their purchases for a weeks worth of food for their families. Then, it gets even better when you spin the "Wheel of Fortune and Misfortune!" One at a time "families" come up- and spin the wheel to decide something that happened to their family that week. Maybe they attended a free church dinner and didn't have to plan one dinner that week or they harvested some crop-s from their victory garden to add to their diet, or they were pressured into buying War Bonds and have less money for food or a kid came down with the flu, forcing them to buy expensive soup and orange juice! Students will really enjoy this and learn some valuable life lessons about budgeting and making a dollar stretch!
