1940s Breitling Premier Reference 765
Why This Watch Matters The 765 is one of the most coveted vintage Breitling references, and this oversized example easily shows why that is the case. The Full Story From its beginnings, Breitling displayed a relentless focus on chronographs; in fact, it invented the configuration of two chronograph pushers for a wristwatch. The reference 765 was actually attributed to several chronograph models from Breitling, which all came with an oversized case and a manual-wind Valjoux 178 movement (sometimes modified by Breitling). In this example from the 1940s, the silver dial with oversized registers looks really amazing. This all confirms the strength of Breitling's product line at that time, considering the Chronomat model had also been recently released.
