1950s Benrus Sky Chief
Why This Watch Matters Legibility and functionality reign supreme in this sky-bound timepiece. The Full Story It is always refreshing when you can tell a book by its cover, and in this case the "Sky Chief" moniker tells you exactly what the purpose of this watch was - to help conquer the sky. The legible dial, brightly colored handset, 12-hour sub-register, and elongated four-minute hash-marks on the 30-minute counter are all indicative of a watch created and amended for aerial navigators. The coin-edge rotating bezel with red indicator allowed for accurate timing and facilitated turning the bezel if the wearer was wearing gloves. This element in particular still functions well, and adds a bit of interesting texture to this vintage chronograph.
