PVC strings made from recycled plastic Each Caribe Chic Basket is handmade in Santa Marta, a city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, by local craftspeople. They weave the PVC strings, made from recycled plastic, around the powder-coated tubular steel frame. The weaving technique that the artesanos and artesanas use is called Momposino. Momposino is a traditional method known for intricate patterns. Simply the preparation of all the materials takes ten days, after which it takes another three days to produce one basket. Sold singly.
