Mucha Jour II Belgian Tapestry Wall Hanging
Woven In: Woven in Belgium History: Mucha Jour, also known as Brightness of Day, is a jacquard wall tapestry made in Belgium. It portrays the mid-day personified; the artwork of pioneering Czechoslovakian artist Alphonse Mucha, this is part of his Hours of the Day series from 1899. In this tapestry we see the woman, fully awake, at daytime, surrounded by flowers as she is suspended in the air. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads often using pale pastel colors. The Mucha Style became known as Art Nouveau French for new art and was often imitated. Artist: Alphonse Mucha Composition: 80% Cotton, 20% Viscose and Polyester blend.
