Arkansas State has undergone several transformations over its 100+ year history. ASU was an A&M school, a junior college and a four-year college before the state approved its university status. Athletically, they also tried several nicknames, including Aggies, Farmers, Gorillas, Warriors and Indians, until finally becoming the Red Wolves in 2008.
