About Jean Boullet Boullet was a legendary character who established his reputation as a draughtsman in Saint Germain des Prés after World War II. His work was heavily influenced by Jean Cocteau and he illustrated numerous books by Poe, Villon, Verlain and others. Les Beaux Gars begins with 8 pages of short quotes on the love of boys from ancient authors, Shakespeare, Goethe, Verlaine, and even Darwin. There are 27 line drawings of young men. He was found hanging from a tree in Algeria in December 1970 and his death (thought to be suicide) remains a mystery.
