Escape Room: Nursing Pediatric - ER Visit with a Child Abuse Element

A very unique escape room that is different than any other... Pediatric visit to the ER with the possibility of child abuse. In this escape room the students utilize the elements of caring for a 4-year-old who has been injured. Teaching opportunities include: pediatric vital signs, age-appropriate activities/communication,  and signs and symptoms of child abuse. This nursing escape room simulation has been carefully designed to illicit emotion and thoughtful reflection regarding the safety of the child. The scenario never reveals if the child is being abused: it simply reinforces the nurse's role in the suspicion of child abuse. Writing an effective escape room takes many hours. This one is done for you!   Nurse educators need unique and interactive learning resources. Students learn while developing skills such as; critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. This presentation contains the instructions, pre and debriefing discussion points, clues, tool
