Study to "Two Lasting Things to Give a Child, Roots and Wings"6" x 8"Oil on Linen Veronica Brown, Sullivan, MO Inspiration for the piece: Inspiration for the piece:  It was raining the day I painted this.  I was running low on sleep and struggling to find something that caught my attention.  I've always been fascinated by root structures, especially those that you see along the river banks.  I happened to see this one near a drainage slope along the road in Harmonie Park.  It was then that I saw a cardinal land for a brief second, as if to say, "paint this, paint me".
