***MALAYSIAN ORCHID*** Medinilla Myriantha ***AKA Malaysian Grapes*** Well Rooted Starter Plant
This flowering tropical shrub, native to Africa, the Pacific Islands, and Asia,is commonly called Malaysian Grape Orchid, because the flowers resemble a cluster of grapes. It is called Pink Pixi in Australia. Myriantha is one of the easiest of the Medinillas to grow, and it has a showy display of pink blooms that last for months. These blooms then develop into numerous small flowers. The flowers then are followed with pink berries, eventually turning purple!Although the berry/grape like bloom structures are not edible, this showy plant makes a great accent plant or addition to a shade garden. This plant tolerates moderate light and even dry conditions, making it a great indoor houseplant (min. temp is 60F), and grows around 2 to 6 feet in height! The Malaysian Grape Orchid, is a strong grower when given proper watering and adequate light, and also, if they get too big, they can be pruned back! It is hardy in Zones 9 - 11.
