Situated primarily in McHenry and Lake Counties, this popular recreational area encompasses over 7,100 acres of water and 488 miles of shoreline. The main lakes in the system include Grass Lake, Lake Marie, Nippersink Lake, Bluff Lake, Fox Lake, Pistakee Lake, Channel Lake, Petite Lake, Lake Catherine, and Redhead Lake, with an additional five smaller lakes connected by channels.
