China Star Cabbage is a hybrid cabbage variety that produces large heads with a dark green exterior and dark yellow interior. Chinese cabbage, also known as Napa cabbage, is great for salads, stir fries, or making kimchi. China Star produces 3-4 lb heads that are dense and tightly wrapped at maturity. This variety is slow to bolt and will hold well in the field for a longer harvesting window as spring temperatures warm. Cabbage will grow best in areas where weeds are kept to a minimum. Cabbage is moderately frost-tolerant and performs better when planted in cooler weather. Cabbage will tend to bolt in warmer temperatures. Plant cabbage early in spring for a late spring/early summer harvest, or plant in late summer/early fall for a fall harvest.
