These fruits are twice as large as traditional jalapeño varieties and grow as large as 5" long. The fruits are uniformly-shaped and have thick walls, which makes them a green option for slicing into rings. Colossus is hotter than most jalapeno varieties, but the heat can be controlled by removing the Seeds or membrane before eating. This is great variety for pickling or stuffing and throwing on the grill. Peppers are in the nightshade family along with tomatoes and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at bloom set. Peppers do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable See
