Jade Cross Hybrid Brussels Sprouts F1
Jade Cross Brussels Sprouts is a hybrid, early maturing variety. As a result, it can be planted later in fall than most varieties, especially in cooler climates. Jade Cross was a 1959 All-America Selections winner for taste and performance. Plants produce 30" stalks that are loaded with "mini cabbages" or sprouts. Sprouts are consistently around 1" in diameter and uniform in size. Sprouts may be harvested individually, or wait until full maturity and harvest the entire stalk. Jade Cross Brussels Sprouts have excellent flavor for roasting or sauteing, but also hold well when frozen. Blanch, dry and freeze for Brussels Sprouts year-round. Brussels sprouts may be direct-seeded, but perform best when transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing, and prevents Brussels sprouts seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Brussels sprouts transplants grow grea
