Jericho Romaine Lettuce is an open-pollinated variety that produces large sword-shaped, upright leaves. It is also very resistant to many strains of downy mildew, making it a great option for those growing in areas with high heat and humidity. Bred in Israel, the Jericho Lettuce stays sweet and crisp even in hotter climates. Jericho Romaine Lettuce performs best when transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing and prevents seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Thin plants to one seed per cell to ensure adequate growing space.
