This was one of the first sugary-enhanced hybrids ever developed, and it's still extremely popular for backyard gardeners and small-scale farmers today. Kandy Korn produces large ears on strong stalks that can grow to 8' tall. Each ear contains 16-20 rows of delicious, yellow kernels that are sweet and tender. This variety is known for its holding ability, which can be up to 2 weeks after maturity. The husks contain beautiful, purple streaks and protect the ear quality during harvesting. Sweet corn should be planted in the spring after the last frost date. Sweet corn can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost.
