This illumination from the Hours of Louis de Laval (c. 1490) depicts the Annunciation, with the Angel Gabriel greeting the Virgin Mary as she reads from a book of hours, and the expulsion of Adam and Eve shown in the background. This work is attributed to the workshop of Jean Colombe, a prominent French illuminator of the late 15th century.
