Hummingbird Music Publishers · Simple Gifts - Alto Saxophone Solo with Piano Watch Score VideoView Score Simple Gifts, composed in 1748, was probably intended for part of the Quaker worship experience that involved dancing. Dance instructions seem to appear in the lyrics. The tune was brought to greater public attention when Aaron Copland used it as part of his score to the ballet, Appalachian Spring. It was also borrowed for a recent hymn, Lord of the Dance by Sydney Carter.      This current publication is for solo instrument with accompaniment.  It is appropriate for either sacred or secular use.  The difficult level is moderate (+) and the length is roughly two minutes.
