Specifically designed to fit between 16" on-center joists, this slim profile ensures a more straightforward installation process in many cases. Unlike traditional ceiling cassettes that distribute conditioned air in four directions, the Slim Ceiling Cassettes feature one-way air delivery. They draw return air along one edge and deliver conditioned air out the other, optimizing airflow efficiency. Despite the slim design, these air handlers provide the same high-efficiency heating and cooling performance as regular wall-mounted units. Each unit comes with a convenient handheld remote control, and once installed in the ceiling, only the grille remains visible, offering an understated and seamless appearance. Switchable Sizing The ACiQ-SCC1218 model is initially set at an 18,000 BTU capacity but can be effortlessly adjusted to a 12,000 BTU capacity by simply changing the dip switch. Installation Considerations Slim Profile Ceiling Cassettes require a flush-mounted installation, necessitating the removal of sufficient ceiling material to create a cavity for the unit. Designed to fit between 16" on-center joists, these cassettes typically require no modifications to the existing framing. Additionally, they come equipped with factory-installed onboard condensate pumps capable of lifting condensation up to 14 inches. To ensure proper drainage, a PVC drain system must be constructed to route the condensation to a suitable wastewater location. Refrigerant and wiring connections are the same as those used for wall-mounted units.
