
Woolly Mammoth Ivory Heart Pendant
Beautiful heart pendant made with Woolly Mammoth ivory discovered at the Boneyard Alaska. I made this out of a shard found at the Boneyard Alaska. This particular shard was a broken tusk tip which is impossible to match to a tusk and I used it to create a free hand-carved heart shaped pendant. This is the very inner core from the narrow part of the tusk tip. You can see the tusk rings and distinctive Schreger pattern evident in the fossil ivory of this piece of woolly mammoth tusk which I highlighted. I made the bell with a freshwater pearl and antique glass beads. The Boneyard Alaska is owned by my brother and his wife (John and Ramona Reeves), It has become renowned for being a significant paleontological site where thousands of Ice Age fossils have been discovered.
