Early 20th Century Thomas L Mott Sterling Silver Butterfly Wing Necklace
This early 20th century sterling silver blue morpho butterfly wing pendant was created by Thomas L Mott, the silversmith that popularized butterfly wing jewelry. The iridescent blue is so vibrant it’s practically glowing! The wing rests under a domed crystal framed by a delicate silver border, while a tri-petalled flower on the bail provides a soft nod to nature. After over a hundred years, this necklace is still perfectly magical. ConditionExcellent antique condition. Some extremely minor scratches on the metal and glass visible with a loupe, but no defects visible to the naked eye. HallmarksThe reverse is marked “Sterling Silver” and “TM & Co” for Thomas L Mott. MeasurementsThe chain is 18” long, the pendant is 1 ⅛” across and 1 ¾” long including the bail.
