The Angus Tartan, designed by Clans Originaux in 1880, carries a rich and storied history. It first appeared in the Clans Originaux of 1880 and was later featured in the Neilson, Shaw, and MacGregor catalogue of 1888. By 1906, it was included in W & A K Johnston's "Tartans of the Clans & Septs". Initially, this tartan was considered a clan or family tartan, but it has since evolved to represent the district of Angus, a historic county on the east coast of Scotland, bordered by Kincardineshire and Aberdeenshire to the north, the Firth of Tay to the south, and Perthshire to the west. The name "The Only One" possibly refers to the Angus King of Dalriada in the ninth century, symbolizing its deep roots in Scottish history.
