Remarks: Labeotropheus trewavasae occurs all over Lake Malawi with a high degree of variance among each population. The population at Mara Rocks, on the western side of Lake Malawi near Usisya, have blue and black barring with dark black fins.  Labeotropheus are easily distinguished from other mbuna genera by their curved, hanging snout. This special adaptation allows them to graze on rocks on an almost parallel plane, letting them feed on rocks that other fish may not be able to reach.  Scientific Name: Labeotropheus trewavasae - Mara Common Name: Black Top Max Size: 6" pH: 7.5-8.4 Hardness: Hard Temperature: 74-82° Aggressiveness: Aggressive Region of Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa Captive Bred or Wild: Captive Bred Diet: Spirulina flake, vegetables Compatibility: Mbuna - Labeotropheus, Labidochromis, Iodotropheus, Cynotilapia Tank Mate Options: Yellow Lab Red Top Hongi Blue Cobalt Zebra *****Please review our Shipping and Handling FAQ prior to placing your order.
