Remarks: Blueberry Tetras (Hyphessobrycon wadai) are a recent addition to the hobby by way of Brazilian exporters, and was only scientifically described in 2016. Luckily, they are easy to spawn and have been raised in captivity, which creates a renewable source for hobbyists while also lowering what was a steep price for wild specimens ($20+ per fish!). They are active fish, rarely stopping to be photographed. Males are more brightly colored than females. They show iridescent blue-purple scales that darken towards the caudal fin, with bright red fins.  Scientific Name: Hyphessobrycon wadai Common Name: Blueberry Tetra Max Size: 2.5" pH: 5.0-8.0 Hardness: Soft Temperature: 70-82° Aggressiveness: Peaceful Region of Origin: South America Captive Bred or Wild: Captive Bred Diet: Small flake or pellet, small frozen or live foods Compatibility: Similarly sized schooling fish, dwarf cichlids, Corydoras, livebearers, rainbowfish, Loricariids Tank Mate Options: Orange Lemon Tetra Panda Tetra B
