Remarks: The Aulonocara stuartgranti peacock cichlids are found throughout Lake Malawi and exhibit a wide variety of appearances, at least in males. The Chilumba location is a tall-bodied fish with dark blue scales. The scales near the anal fin have an orange tint to them when the fish is not fully colored up, which is why many A. stuartgranti are called Flametails. Young males will display some yellow in the lower half of their body that disappears as they age. The unsexed juvenile 1-2" size are like most all other peacocks and show no striking colors until they mature.  The (Aulonocara stuartgranti) "Chilumba" are bred here at Imperial Tropicals and the breeders were brought in from Germany.  Scientific Name: Aulonocara stuartgranti "Chilumba" Common Name: Max Size: 6" pH: 7.5-8.4 Hardness: Hard Temperature: 74-82° Aggressiveness: Aggressive Region of Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa Captive Bred or Wild: Captive Bred Diet: Flake or pellet Compatibility: Victorian Haps, Malawi Haps, Mala
