Remarks: Spotted Congo Puffers (Tetraodon schoutedeni) are a very rare species of puffer from the Congo River. They are fairly small, maxing out around 4", and considerably more peaceful towards other fish than most puffers in the hobby. As long as their tankmates are not small enough to eat, they will typically leave them alone, however we do not recommend keeping them with slow fish or fish with flowing fins.  They come from calm stretches of the Congo River where they can float without exerting much effort. Females grow larger than males, and when they begin spawning, males will bite onto the female's belly and hold on for several minutes. Through a series of aggressive jerking motions, the male eventually pushes the eggs out of the female.  Scientific Name: Tetraodon schoutedeni Common Name: Spotted Congo Puffer Max Size: 4" pH: 6.5-8.5 Hardness: Moderate Temperature: 70-82° Aggressiveness: Semi-Aggressive Region of Origin: West Africa Captive Bred or Wild: Captive Bred Diet: Prima
