Zebra Obliquidens (Astatotilapia latifasciata)
Remarks: Zebra Obliquidens (Astatotilapia latifasciata) are an excellent introduction to Lake Victorian and African cichlids in general. They exhibit comparatively low levels of aggression, though some males can be particularly feisty if they feel their territory is being encroached upon. They can get along with Victorian cichlids, but also Malawi cichlids including Peacocks and mbuna. Scattered rock piles will allow them to form territories and seek shelter when threatened. It is best to keep males together with other male species, or males and females of one species in a ratio equal to 1:2 or more, respectively. Hybridization is common among Victorian cichlids and it is not advised to keep females of other species of Astatotilapia or Haplochromis together with males.
