Borneo Sucker Loach
Remarks: Borneo Sucker Loaches belong to a group of loaches that live in fast-moving streams and rivers in Borneo. There are many species that live together, and often imports contain a mixture of these species. These loaches have modified pelvic and pectoral fins that have grown to form a suction, allowing them to cling to river rock in the strong current. Due to their high metabolism, they need to be able to graze on aufwuchs that grow on the surfaces of rocks all the time so they should only be introduced to well aged tanks and never to brand new ones. These fish will accept algae wafers and some meaty foods, but they much prefer cleaning smooth stones. Keeping their tank near direct sunlight, allowing lots of algae to grow, will be very beneficial to their health. It is also recommended to have high levels of dissolved oxygen to best simulate their natural habitats.
