Its green leaves have a blueish hue when viewed in certain lighting giving it its nickname of deep blue. Along with this attractive coloration, Bucephalandra deep blue has unique shape to its leaves that tend to be small and coin-shaped with ruffled edges. A truly interesting species of buce, it can make a great addition to many aquascapes as a midground or foreground plant   Bucephalandra are similar to Anubias in that they are epiphytic meaning that they grow on structures such as wood, rocks, or decor rather than into the soil. They should be attached to structures like this in the aquarium because if their main stem called the rhizome is buried in the substrate, it likely will rot away and the plant will die.
