Selene Bowl

Selene is a hand-thrown bowl by ceramicist Abigail Schama. She is made from dark and light stoneware and is painted with a combination of dolomite and transparent glaze. The interior face of the bowl echos the face of the moon; it is named for the Greek goddess of the Moon who drives her moon chariot across the heavens. She is suitable as a decorative piece or to hold fruit. Abigail Schama works with a palette of transparent glazes and 24-carat gold lustre layered over a darker clay body. She marks the exterior and interior surfaces, creating a rugged, human tactility and imbuing each vessel with its own inner life.
