Saint Thomas More was one of the greatest legal minds, and writers, in English history. This handmade medal on a chain depicts More in court. I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The medal comes on either an 18-inch or 24-inch chain with a lobster clasp. Each necklace comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states: "St. Thomas More, a brilliant lawyer and judge, a devoted and beloved husband and father, and a distinguished intellectual and writer (see 'Utopia,' a word he invented), was executed by Henry VIII because More believed in the law above politics, patronage, and power. In 1534 Henry VIII demanded all citizens take an oath disavowing Henry’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon and repudiating the power of 'any foreign authority, prince or potentate' (i.e., the pope).
