January '77 saw the release of Low, the first in the Bowie/Visconti-produced Berlin trilogy. That year also saw the release of Heroes and Lodger. Unifying the albums was Bowie, Visconti and Eno. Low was groundbreaking, characterized by a unique sound. It was organic and not mechanized, thanks to the trio of Alomar (guitar), Davis (drums) and Murray (bass). It charted well, peaking at No. 2 in the UK and "Sound and Vision" and "Be My Wife" released as singles. It's timeless - thirty-nine minutes of brilliance and melancholia.
