First coat is sheer but it is VERY holographic and opaque at three coats.Violet Stars is a purple/red/gold mega chrome flakie (a special type of thin multichrome flake).  Mega chrome flakies are larger, shinier and shift to more colors than normal chrome flakies. The base of this polish is clear and it is meant as a one coat effect top coat (pictured is one coat over white). This polish is intended as an effect top coat, but will reach opacity in four thin coats, or three thick coats; shown swatches are one coat over white or black.Violet Stars is #15 in the full Mega Chrome flakie lineup (click)It is similar in overall shift to Eye of the Cyclone (#1), however Violet Stars is darker and has less metallic shine and more of a glow effect.
