Antique 3-Drawer Heavy Riveted Steel Strongbox with Japanned Handles

Dense, overbuilt steel strongbox constructed from folded and riveted plate, designed for secure storage of documents, cash drawers, or tools in early industrial and office settings. The exterior retains its original darkened, work-worn surface with subtle pinstriped borders still visible along the case sides. A fixed steel carry handle anchors the top, reinforcing its purpose as a portable but rugged security piece. Inside, the box houses three sliding steel drawers, each fitted with a heavy rolled-steel pull. The pulls retain much of their original japanned finish, offering a deep, glossy contrast against the matte, time-worn steel of the cabinet. Recessed drawer fronts with molded borders give the strongbox a utilitarian yet intentionally structured appearance. Craquelure, oxidation, scratches, and patina present throughout, including worn edges and small rust patches as photographed.
