This 19th-century tongue and groove plane is crafted from hardwood with hand-carved details and wooden screw-threaded dowels used to control fence position. A prominent rear tote handle and skewed blade suggest it was designed for producing jointed boards in cabinetry or flooring. The adjustable fence allows the user to cut grooves of consistent depth and spacing, often paired with a separate tongue plane in traditional joinery. These planes were commonly produced in the United States and Britain throughout the mid- to late-1800s by firms like Sandusky Tool Co., Auburn Tool Co., and Ohio Tool Co., prior to the widespread adoption of metal-bodied joinery planes. Approximately 13.5" L x 7.5" H x 4.5" W Surface wear, scratches, and age-darkening throughout. Small chips to the front and some cracking along the fence. Blade appears present but untested. Not inspected with the wedge removed. MM - C-15526 - 073025 For information regarding shipping, please visit our Terms & Condition
