c. 1900s - 1910s; National Speciality Mfg. Co. - Philadelphia Antique cast iron lever-operated tobacco plug cutter. This Model No. 2 tobacco cutter from National Manufacturing features a a cast metal body and is mounted on a wooden block. Devices such as these were used prior to tobacco being pre-cut in a can and fibers needed to be cut by the smoker prior to being put in a pipe; the end result were small chunks or "plugs" of tobacco. Exhibits minor signs of wear, but due to being cast iron, it remains in good structural condition. 17.5" W x 5.5" D x 7" H Please refer to photos regarding condition.
