Early 20th Century Oak Roll-Top Secretary Desk

c. 1900s/1910s; Skandia Furniture Company - Rockford, IL Carved solid oak secretary desk with a cylinder roll top. This piece features a roll-top that opens to reveal a multitude of storage cubbies and drawers and a pull-out writing surface. Below this is a large, central drawer that spans the width of the desk. Below this there are two deep drawers of uniform size with matching hardware and locking mechanisms. Next to these is a small cabinet that appears to have had similar hardware that has unfortunately been lost to time. The desk was manufactured by Skandia, a furniture manufacturer that once occupied a two-block brick complex along what is now 23rd Ave in Rockford.
