The Twin Specters of Inflation and COVID Although inflation may be moderating, it’s likely to remain above average during the Halloween 2022 season. According to Numerator’s COVID-19 Consumer Sentiment Survey (7/15/22), 82% of respondents think inflation will increase during the next few months. The largest percentage (38%) of surveyed shoppers said their primary concern was personal finances, 76% were uncomfortable “splurging on premium or luxury items” and 30% said they would spend less on snacks and candy during the next few months. When asked about their concerns with COVID-19, more (28%) had a high concern than a low concern (22%) and 39% expected mask mandates to be reimposed or extended during the next few months.
