Inspired by Pre-historic mythology of the maternal clans of the Serer people. (Origin - Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania.) - The Serer people believed in a female god ‘Pangol’ who ruled alongside female priestesses. The only way one could join these powerful clans is if they were blood relatives to the priestesses - which is why they were called the Matriclans. This work was originally part of the Infinite Objects x Studio As We Are: Women of the World Collection.
