Plates
You’ll probably never have this many cymbals on a kit. I wanted a cymbal tool that could play expressive, varied cymbal parts straight into a production, spread across the stereo field. So I took every cymbal I own and played them seven different ways. The result is Plates. There two to three octaves of cymbals in each patch. The first third of the cymbals sit center-left, the middle third are center-ish, and the last third are center-right, so playing them feels like sweeping across a huge wall of cymbals. You get a pretty big range of sizes, characters, and tonalities in seven styles: Big Fuzzy Mallet, Hand Muted, Palmed (upside down in hand with mallet), Stacked, Stacked Twice, Taped Rod, and Taped Stick. The result is cymbal passes that feel characterful and wide without crowding the mix. What you get: 1,928 samples, cut in stereo, controls for high pass and low pass filter. What you need: A full version of Kontakt 7 or above (not Kontakt Player) 2.8 gb on your drive
