Real sounds, frozen in time. There’s something strange that happens when you freeze sound. A piano that should decay just keeps going. A mandolin starts to feel like an organ. Honestly, everything starts to feel like an organ. Yeti is built on real recordings pushed past their natural limits. I sampled instruments like guitars, pianos, plucks, winds, and voices, then froze them. Freeze works by grabbing a short buffer—just a few milliseconds—and looping it infinitely. When you catch the right slice, you get all the overtones and texture without the attack. It sheds its shape and turns into something more ambient. Each patch is two freeze passes combined: one for the left, one for the right. They’re made from the same source, but each side catches a different moment, so the stereo field drifts in an interesting way. It’s still raw. Still organic. But now it’s suspended in a way that doesn’t really make sense. 40 patches total. Super simple interface: envelope, filters, cassette and bite
