When magnetic contact is broken, such as a door or window being opened, Open/Close Sensor can do things like turn on lights or receive text message alert on your smartphone (requires INSTEON Automation Controller). Gain peace of mind knowing that you'll be alerted when the back door sneaks ajar or the side window slides open. Useful for doors, windows, drawers, sheds, cabinets, and anything else that opens, Open/Close Sensor is a wireless, easy-to-use solution for adding convenience and awareness to any INSTEON-controlled home. An AA battery is required and included. How it works In the example illustration above, Open/Close Sensor is mounted to a door frame and the included magnet attaches to the door. When the magnet is separated from Open/Close Sensor (door opening) it sends a wireless RF signal to the nearest dual-band product (sold separately) which in turn relays the signal over your existing power wires to turn on linked devices such as lamps or wall switches. When the door is closed, Open/Close Sensor turns those same devices off. While at least 1 dual-band product is required when using an RF transmitter, at least 2 are recommended to ensure a reliable INSTEON network. Required Accessories For the best INSTEON network performance, be sure you have properly installed at least one other dual-band product. Note: Open/Close Sensor does not transmit X10-compatible RF signals. More Info Open/Close Sensor also contains an input for standard security sensors, so you can monitor many doors / windows from a single Open/Close Sensor.
