Stroppiana Barolo DOCG 'Leonardo' 2021
The Stroppiana estate began in Rivalta, a small village in the township of La Morra, at the heart of the Barolo region. Its roots, however, lie in two of Barolo’s most prestigious townships: La Morra and Monforte d’Alba. Our father, Dario, was born and raised in La Morra, while our mother, Stefania, came from Bussia, a hamlet in Monforte d’Alba. Both hailed from families steeped in farming and winemaking. We are now the fourth generation of Stroppiana winemakers, with the family estate founded in the mid-20th century. In the 1950s and ’60s, our great-grandparents and grandparents began acquiring vineyards in La Morra and Bussia. Like many at the time, most of the harvest was sold to other producers, with just a small portion made into wine for the family. TASTING NOTES: Ruby-red with characteristic garnet highlights. The nose is intense with pleasing notes of forest floor intertwined with floral and fruit notes. On the palate, it is dry, warm and velvety; full-bodied, yet elegant
