Winemaking has taken place at the Carreira Alta family cellar for over five generations. António Canto Moniz, a descendant of Dão farmers, honors this legacy through his wine, Vinha Paz—named after his mother, Maria da Paz Othon. Meaning “Vineyard of Peace,” Vinha Paz reflects the region’s soul and tradition. The harvest and vinification were guided by Sr. Magalhães Coelho, a key figure in Dão’s revival and named “Portuguese Winemaker of the Year” in 2003. That same year, Vinha Paz was honored as “Revelation Winery of the Year.” The 12-hectare estate features 50-year-old vines on southeast-facing slopes, with key grapes including Touriga Nacional, Jaen, Alfrocheiro Preto, and Tinta Roriz.
