Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely iron framed "boxlock" style flintlock pocket pistol dating to approximately 1821-1830, and marked clearly on the lock with BRUNTON on the left and YORK on the right. English gunmakers: The Birmingham and Provincial Gun Trade in the 18th and 19th Century by De Witt Bailey and Douglas A Nie list Brunton as working 1817-1820 in Doncaster and 1821 to 1830 in York, both in Yorkshire County. We have seen several other examples by this same maker, mostly flintlock pistols of various sizes and types. The weapon measures 5 ⅞" in overall length with a screw off 1 ½" smooth bored .48"cal iron cannon barrel, which in very good condition, showing signs of light to moderate use. Like most we see, the barrel joint is unfortunately seized, and probably has been for well over 100 years. The underside of the frame is also marked with the CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / BPC "proof" and CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / V "viewed" markings from the city of Birmingha
