Original German WWII Zinc 2nd Pattern NSKK Crash Helmet Eagle Badge Plate

Original Item: Only One available. This is a very nice early issue 2nd Pattern NSKK Crash Helmet eagle in very good condition. This was removed during the war from a Sturzhelm nach Vorschrift des NSKK (Crash Helmet according to NSKK regulations). The eagle was mounted to the front center of one of these helmets, and unlike almost all that we see, it is not made from aluminum, but instead zinc, indicating that it is very early issue. The first pattern crash helmet insignia utilized a very different eagle shape very similar to the early SA / NSKK eagle, and on the helmets were made from Nickel Silver alloy. The second pattern moved to a much more 'Art-Deco" shaped eagle, with NSKK in a banner above. The second pattern was attached to the helmet by three integral split pins. Condition is very good, with the zinc finish now faded to a lovely oxidized patina. The shape is well preserved, and it shows only minor damage and bending.
